If there is a way in the right direction when it comes to basketball, then the newform BNXT league is on point!

Two countries made a great collaboration in the right step for basketball popularity in their region. It’s well known that basketball is not so popular in the Netherlands and Belgium if we compare it for example, to football. FIBA recognized that fact and approved this awesome project.

There are many examples like this one in Europe when a couple of countries create basketball leagues, the best example is Adriatic League (ABA league) or VTB league and the final result are teams playing Euroleague every year.
BNXT league is a young league founded in December 2020 and this year is going to be the first official year. This is the top tear league for Dutch and Belgium basketball.
The name itself is for sponsorship reasons and it sounds very attractive.

The league started on 11. September with SuperCup with the game between Dutch champions and the Belgian champions of the previous season. Filou Oostende won the title in the league premier. On the other side, the regular season started 24 September 2021 with 21 teams.
Through the league, we will have a couple of different stages and with national championships and a final BNXT championship.

hat has brought us here to this newform league? Well, the lack of sportive and commercial motivation. On one side you have a lack of teams, fans and players are a bit bored watching and playing with the same teams over and over again.
On the other side, sponsors were less and less interested in investing in something that does not bring any profit, popularity, or fan base.
It has already been noticeable in the SuperCup final. The players had the greater motivation, fans were more interested, and sponsors also found their part of interest. It’s like a chain reaction!

The time will show us how good is this project, but one thing is sure that it has a great perspective. The statistics have shown us that after the BNXT league has been formed the popularity of basketball has started growing slowly and that automatically means more fans, more sponsors, and tv rights.
If everything starts according to plan and COVID does not do his thing, soon we will start seeing well-known players in the BNXT league who will rise this league sky-high.
