After a tough loss against Barcelona in the Euroleague, Real Madrid quickly regrouped and defeated Unicaja Malaga 79-74 to stay on top of the ACB with a 12-1 record.
The visitors were the better team in the first half taking a six-point lead into the second but Real Madrid went on a 31-16 run in the third quarter to get the job done.
Adam Hanga was the top scorer for Real with 14 points one more than Sergio Llull. Axel Bouteille led Unicaja with 14 points.
Barcelona kept the pace with the rival as they defeated Tenerife 75-60 on the road for their 11th win in 13 games this season. As usual, Nikola Mirotic led the Catalans with 18 points followed by Nigel Hayes with 14.
The veteran center Giorgi Shermandini was the top scorer for Tenerife with 17 points while both Canadian players Kyle Wiltjer and Aaron Doornekamp didn’t have a game to remember scoring two points each.
Dylan Ennis scored 31 points for Gran Canaria but that wasn’t enough to go over BAXI Manresa who won 82-80 on the road. The Canadian guard shot 9-of-19 from the field and 10-of-12 from the free-throw line. Joe Thomasson led the winning team with 18 points.
Another Canadian had a terrific performance as Kyle Alexander led Fuenlabrada to an 85-74 road victory over Zaragoza. The 25-year-old power forward scored 17 points shooting 7-of-11 from the field. Matt Mobley was the best player for the home team with 18 points.
Rio Breogan won 83-74 at home over MoraBanc Andorra. Former Brooklyn Nets’ player Dzanan Musa was the top scorer with 26 points while Traw Bell-Haynes scored 12. Codi Miller-McIntyre led Andorra with 16 points.
In the remaining three games of round 13 in the ACB, Joventut defeated Betis 84-82, Baskonia was better than Bilbao 101-86 and UCAM Murcia cruised past Burgos 102-84.
