The 23-time Lithuanian champion Zalgiris Kaunas has won their 15th game in the 16th round of the LKL. The Green-Whites won 89-86 on the road against Šiauliai-7bet.
The home team that is 10-6 for the season showed up in a great fight against the best team in the country staying in the game until the final minutes. The score was tied entering the final quarter and Zalgiris was only one point ahead coming into the last minute. Edgaras Ulanovas made a three-pointer with 46 seconds left in the game which proved to be the key moment of the game.
Tyler Cavanaugh was the top scorer for Zalgiris with 26 points followed by Ulanovas with 21. Jonathan Elmore led the home team with 32 points.
Second-placed Rytas had an easy task winning 106-77 at home against Labas Gas. Six players scored in double figures for Rytas who are 14-1 for the season.
Tanner Leissner led the way with 19 points off the bench, shooting perfect 9-of-9 from the field. Ivan Buva, Arnas Butkevičius and Gytis Radzevičius scored 15 points each.
Jovan Kljajič was the top scorer for Labas Gas with 16 points.
Lietkabelis was dominant on the road against Uniclub Casino – Juventus winning by 92-75. Serbian center Djordje Gagic was brilliant with 24 points on 10-of-12 shooting followed by Panagiotis Kalaitzakis who scored 16 for Lietkabelis.
Patrick Miller was the top scorer for Juventus with 16.
In the last game round 16, Nevėžis–Optibet beat Pienso Zvaigždės 88-87. Tahjon Starks scored the game-winner for the visitors with 3 seconds left and finished the game with a team-high 20 points.
Žygimantas Skučas led Nevėžis–Optibet with 27 points.
