Incredible run of Australia, 19-0

The host of this year’s World Cup, Australia managed to inflict its first defeat on Canada 75-72. Australia is well on its way to securing first place in the group if it defeats Japan in the final round. In this match, Canada got off to a great start and had a 23-14 advantage after the first quarter. Australia had an early lead of 9-3. At one point in the second quarter, Canada had as much as +14, 33-19. Then Australia made an incredible run of as much as 19-0. Samantha Whitcomb added 15 points and 6 assists. Stephanie Tallbot had a performance of 11 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Nirra Fields scored 17 points with 7 rebounds in the losing team. Bridget Carleton followed her with 16 points.

Serbia defeated Mali, France better than Japan

Serbia defeated Mali with less difficulty 81-68. The national team from the African continent played probably the best game of the tournament. At halftime, Serbia had only a 4-point advantage, 43-39. In the second half, the quality of the current European champion ruled. Serbia gained a double-digit advantage in the third quarter and did not let it go until the end of the game. In the winning team, Sasa Cadjo scored 20 points. Tina Krajisnik had a performance of 17 points and even 12 rebounds. On the other side, Sika Kone was the best again with 13 points and 11 rebounds. In the last round, Serbia will fight for France to avoid the USA in the quarterfinals.

France defeated the current Olympic vice-champion, Japan, 67-53. Japan played a terrible first and last quarter. In those two quarters, Japan scored a total of 14 points. France won the first quarter 16-5. During the second period, Japan even manages to tie the score at 20-20. France went into the break with a 29-26 lead. That advantage was maintained during the third quarter, Japan did not surrender. The way the Japanese women started the game, that’s how they finished it. They had a very modest performance in the last quarter. In the end, the French women recorded a convincing victory.

Convincing victory for USA, +76

The USA achieved a convincing victory against South Korea 145-69. In this way, the USA secured first place before the knockout stage. There needs to be a big surprise so they don’t win another title. The American women scored 62 field goals and had as many as 56 rebounds. In the winning team, all basketball players scored a basket. Brionna Jones scored 24 points with 8 rebounds. China and Belgium recorded two more convincing victories. China beat Puerto Rico 95-60. In the winning team, Li Yueru scored 16 points with 8 rebounds. Zhang Ru added 14 points. On the other side, Trinity San Antonio scored 19 points. Belgium was better than Bosnia and Herzegovina 85-55. Hind Abdelkader was the best in the match with 18 points.
