Last weekend we had the opportunity to watch four games in the 26th round of LKL. Two matches of this round of LKL were played on Saturday. Pieno Zvaigzdes defeated Nevezis in the derby at the back of the LKL. After the overtime, Lietkabelis celebrated away to Juventus. Rytas convincingly defeated Jonava. We watched the last game on Monday and Neptunas achieved a close victory against Siauliai.
Pieno Zvaigzdes celebrated in the backcourt derby
Pieno Zvaigzdes won the away game against Nevezis 85-92. The guests had a double-digit advantage at the end of the first half. The host reduced the advantage in the second half, but the guests still kept the victory. In the winning team, the best was Arnas Berucka, who scored as many as 26 points and had six rebounds. He played almost the entire game. He was followed by Randy Culpepper with 15 points scored. In the defeated team, Amar Sylla scored 24 pts and 7 rebounds. Marius Valinskas scored 17 points and had 14 great assists.
Lietkabelis defeated Juventus after overtime
The Lithuanian representative in the Eurocup won Juventus 93-94 in an exciting finale. We didn’t get a winner in the regular part of the game, so the teams continued to fight in overtime. Lietkabelis had more in the end. In the winning team, Panagiotis Kalaitzakis scored 24 points and recorded 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Gabrielius Maldunas scored 16 pts. With the defeated team, Martynas Gecevius was the most efficient with 26 pts. Patrick Miller missed a shot to win in overtime, but scored 16 pts and had 6 assists.
Rytas convincingly beat Jonava
Rytas did win convincingly 67-91, but it was much harder to reach than the result shows. At the beginning of the last quarter, the visiting team had an advantage of only two points, a difference of 59-61. The home team was shut down at that moment and there was only one team on the field until the end. Rytas won the last quarter 30-10. Ivan Buva scored 22 pts, and he also had 7 rebounds in the winning team. Kenneth Smith scored 15 pts and 6 assists. Former Rytas player Juan Palacios scored 14 pts and 8 rebounds in the losing team. Emmanuel Leconte recorded a performance of 12 pts.
Neptunas better than Siauliai
On Monday, in the last match of this round of LKL, Neptunas defeated Siauliai away 84-87. In the first half, we watched a draw. In the second part of the game, Neptunas had the advantage during most of the half, but the hosts had an equalizer in the end. They failed to take the game into overtime. In the winning team, Deividas Gailius recorded 19 pts, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. Benas Griciunas and Nojus Mineikis scored 17 pts each. In the losing team, the best was Martynas Varnas with 20 and Arminas Urbutis with 19 points.
