Banco di Sardegna Sassari made a huge upset as they defeated Venezia 76-70 in the 11th round of the LBA Serie A.
The home team had control during the first three quarters but Sassari won the last period by 26-11 to reach their fourth win of the season.
Gerald Robinson led the winning team with 20 points and Eimantas Bendzius added 16.
Mitchell Watt was Venezia’s top scorer with 18 points followed by Jeff Brooks with 12.
After 11 rounds, Venezia is eight in the standings with a 5-6 record while Sassari is 12th with 4 wins and 7 losses.
Unlike Venezia, Reggio Emilia took advantage of the home court to defeat Brindisi 72-56.
The third period was crucial as the home team went on a 25-9 to seal the deal.
Osvaldas Olisevicius led Reggiana with 16 points three more than Mikael Hopkins.
Nick Perkins was the best player on the losing team with 14 and Wes Clark added 10 points.
This was Reggio Emilia’s fifth win of the season which put them in tenth place with a 5-6 record. Brindisi is sixth with 6-5.
